1961-Father Reiner began offering Mass in the homes of six families.
The Catholic presence here in Booneville began with Father Charles Reiner, O.S.B., Gladys Mitchell and six Catholic Families. They met in homes and attended Mass in Corinth or Saltillo.
1962- Infant Jesus of Prague Church was built south of Booneville with the help of members and the Extension Society.
The church was built four miles south of town with the dedication services being held on Sunday April 29, 1962. The church began to grow as more families moved to Booneville area; the Fulper Family started a dairy farm; the Buchberger Family established Marathon Cheese; The Lawyer Family came here from American Seating which later became Schweiger's Furniture.
1967- Sacred Heart Missions took over the spiritual and financial needs of nine (9) counties in North East Mississippi (including Prentiss) and continued until 2009. Sacred Heart Southern Missions of Walls, MS, took on the responsibility of serving the spiritual and financial needs of the nine counties in NE MS and Prentiss County was served by the
1977- Father Pinger was the first full time priest and lived in a back room of the church.
1981- The Parish House was purchased for priest or nuns to live. Our Sisters live in the same home today.
1983- Infant Jesus of Prague became a Parish!
1987- Archives show that at this time sisters took care of day to day duties of the church and the priest came on Sunday for Mass and the Sacraments.
1992- The land of the present location was bought in 1992.
1993- Ground breaking for the new church and parish hall began!
1993- Infant Jesus of Prague Church and land were sold. Services were held in a building downtown Booneville until the new church was built and completed.
1993- In December, the new church dedication and the church was named St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and Student Center.
